The Secret of the Phantom of the Opera With David Copperfield was a televison special he did in 1990. It was filmed entirely on location in Paris' Place de L'Opera, this one-hour entertainment special dares to answer one of the most haunting questions of our time. Did the Phantom actually exist?
"The Secret of the Phantom of the Opera," hosted by the internationally known 'master of illusion," David Copperfield, offers a rare opportunity for the audience to examine the evidence and meet the author of the classic thriller, Gaston Leroux. Though dead for the better part of a century, Leroux guides Copperfield through the mysterious opera house from its roof to the subterranean lair seven stories below the sidewalks, in search of the phantom.
The special uncovers the extraordinary history and exquisite beauty of the building, its many treasures and the infamous love triangle involving opera star, Christine Daae, her handsome and titled lover, Raoul, and the grotesque Phantom. The special used flashbacks from the older Phantom movies. On this page I decided to modernize and use pic's and music from Joel Schumacher's 2004 Phantom movie based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical.
